The new bands in Hawaii are all rip offs of other local bands that starting gaining some poplarity here and on the mainland. I remember when All Heart (Pop punk) gained a lot of popularity here, many kids started bullshit pop punk Four Year Strong rip offs. They soon died after a few shows because everyone realized how shitty they were and the bands soon realized it themselves. Then, Die Slow gained a lot of attention as hardcore started to become a trend in Hawaii. Now I’m seeing rip off bands that try sounding like them and try singing about doing whatever they want when they should instead be singing about doing what’s “cool”. It pisses me off to see that one guy from that one gay screamo metalcore band (covering the likes of Escape the Fate (UTTER CRAP)) singing for a hardcore Guns Up! rip off band. Maybe I should just be happy that the screamo phase has died out and that more people are trying to listen to good music.
